First for all, I was appreciate what Mr. Gareth Morgan was done to us. I has benefit much from his patience and friendly teaching. I like the way he teaches. He has combined the teaching materials and games together to attract our interest. This method is extremely useful, I enjoyed the game while learning English pronunciations. This is the first time I felt interesting on learning English.

By the end of ES1102 module, I has learnt those right ways to write a formal essay and finally I managed to write an academic essay. Although I has made many mistakes in the draft one, I has did correction of the draft one and two by guide of Mr. Gareth. Besides, I learnt the APA style to place the in-text citations within sentences and paragraphs so that it is clear whose information is being cited and what information is being quoted or paraphrased. Furthermore, I has also learnt many useful grammar such as passive voice, articles, run-on sentences, preposition and so on.

During the process of writing the essay I has mate some problems. Firstly, due to I was leak of the knowledge in English cause I unable to express my ideas and views in English. In order to solve this problem, I has used the online dictionary to find the words I should uses to present my thought in words. In additionally, I made many grammar mistakes while writing the essay. However, I does not gave up and not feeling ashamed to ask and learn from my friends.

In conclusion, I felt this module was very helpful. I will use the knowledge I has learnt from ES1102 in my future jobs. For example, I can use the writing skills to write my monthly report to my supervisor. I enjoyed this module and learnt many grammar and writing skills. I very appreciate that and feel very thankful to Mr. Gareth.

The Essay Final Darft

In recent years, social networking has been rapidly growing in popularity over the world. It has become an integral part of human life. According to the eMarketer (2003) report, there are around one in four people worldwide has use social network which is in total of 2.18 billion people. Social media is a worldwide connectivity media and it has made people’s lives easier, for example, seeking a new job at home through the internet, real-time information sharing, free advertising, keeping in touch with other people, and so on. However, with over use of social networking also had its downside. In recent years, studies show that there are 5.43 million children in United Kingdom who have experienced cyberbullying which is 70 percent of the young people (Jenny, 2014). Therefore, to prevent the increasing of cyberbullying and crimes cases against young people, two solutions are recommended: to restrict social media access for the United Kingdom’s whole country people and to educate children the right way of using social networking.

The cases of cyberbullying and crimes against young people has become more and more serious in recent years. The Pew Research Center states that 27 percent of teens aged 11 to 16 have encountered cyberbullying once a month and 3 percent being cyberbullying every day (AMANDA, 2010).   Cyberbullying is almost same as the school yard bullying and it is defined as people using electronic communication to bully a person. Nowadays, many teenagers use social media like Facebook, Twitter, Wechat, and Whatsapp to bully other teenagers. Some of them use social media to scam money. Cyberbullying could have a negative impact on the children. It could bring childhood shadow which cause children to become autistic and keep away from people. For example, Tyler Clementi who was a freshman of Rutgers University committed suicide after his roommate spied on a same-sex encounter by using a webcam. His roommate posted the video about his behavior on Twitter (The New York Times, 2012). In additional, Phoebe Prince was bullied by her classmate at school and followed her home via her personal information on Facebook. She also received some bullying massages from social media and she has been called named such as “whore” and “Irish slut”. After that Prince has hang herself at home (Helen, 2010).  Therefore, the problem of cyberbullying must be solved.
One of the solutions to reduce cases of cyberbullying is blocking the social media. The government should restrict the social media access of young people. Therefore, these teenagers have no ways to cyberbully other people. Some teenagers like to follow other people’s behavior and they has copying other’s behavior from social media such as YOUTUBE. Therefore by blocking social media, teenagers could have lesser exposure to those inappropriate behaviors from social media and become criminals. For example there are some countries were blocked Twitter, Facebook and YouTube which are North Korea, Iran, China, Pakistan, and Turkey. However this method can stop people cyberbullying, the school yard bully cases still exits.

Furthermore, another method to prevent cyberbullying is to enforce compulsory education. With the early beginning in the school, children have the chance to learn the right way to use social media and to be trained with the abilities of protect themselves from cyberbullying. There are some skills to stop cyberbullying, for example, looking for signs of harassment, stopping respond to the bully criminal, and blocking the person who was bullying. With these skills, children will able to prevent themselves being the victims of the cyberbullying. Besides that, school should teach student how to respond when they were bullied. For example, they should save evidence and look for help from the teacher or their family. Therefore, the helper could reported the bully to the social media service providers. In additional, the school must pay attention on teaching morals. Many of people think that morals is a useless and not important subject. However, immorality is the key for every crime to be happened. If the person is ethics, he would not do something to hurt other people. Therefore, education is very important since it trains children to be able to distinguish right from wrong.
In conclusion, social media not only make human’s lives easier but it has provides the platform for the criminal to be able to crime at anytime and anywhere. It is very important to solve this problem. Therefore, blocking social media and the development of the education are the solutions to reduce or to prevent cyberbullying and crime.

Reader Responde Draft 3

In David Emm’s article, “The Perils of Over-sharing in Social Networks”, the author has presented some ideas about the disadvantages or dangers of over-sharing in social networks. The Internet is made human life easier, therefore it has become an indispensable part of human [1].  They have become more dependent on the Internet, for example, online shopping, socializing, and banking. Although the Internet makes human life easier, at the same time it contains some potential perils. In order to prevent the perils of over-sharing, the author has shared some tips to protect personal privacy from social networking. The author has clearly and practically presented his opinions by giving some real examples and explanations.
In the article, the author has stated that over-sharing in social networks will cause personal consequences and damage the security of the organizations. I strongly agree with author’s views, because I has seen some cases about over-sharing in social networks around me.
Firstly, by sharing personal information, which might get yourself in danger. For example, I had a friend who put her personal information on Facebook has cause herself being follow back home by a stranger. The stranger got my friend’s address from Facebook and followed her go back. Luckily her father came home at the same time, so that the stranger did not hurt my friend at the time. After that, my friend has learned from the incident and deleted all her personal information in Facebook. Furthermore, sharing by personal status troughs social networks will cause some serious consequences. For example, you share the world in tweet that you are about to go on holiday for few weeks to Europe. However you did not noticed that actually you are just told criminals that your house will be empty for a few weeks. Therefore the criminal is able to collect your personal data from several social networks on the Internet.
Besides, over-sharing not only will cause the personal consequences, it could also bring side effects to the organization. The author has stated that if an employee complained about the functions in new software his company has just launch through Facebook, he might get agreements from others who are using the same software as well [1]. However, the employee actually tipped off other competitor companies about the new software. Therefore they could develop or acquire a better new software to take advantaged from the application.
In conclusion, the Internet has made our life easier but over-sharing could cause some unnecessary troubles. So in order to prevent those consequences, we need to be responsible on ourselves and make some actioned to secure social networking.
